Why shoe my horse every six weeks? 


    1) Keeps your horse’s hoof and bony column in balance and promotes healthy hoof growth


    2) Helps prevent any gait irregularities caused by changing angles in the hoof


    3) Prevents over growth of the hoof over the shoe, which can lead to weak spots in the foot        

        causing chipping and cracking

Why is it important to have a good farrier?


   1) It is their full time job


    2) They will provide you with professional work


    3) They will posses the knowledge and tools to get the job done CORRECTLY


    4) If a problem does arise they can fix it




Is it worth it to pay more for a better farrier?


    1) It’s cheaper to pay a knowledgeable farrier, then to have the vet and the right farrier come 

        out to fix the damage.


    2) Proper shoeing can prolong the life of your horse’s joints, ligaments, and tendons




My horse is lame, should I call the vet?


   1) It is always a good idea to call the vet when working a with lameness


    2) But, first talk to your farrier to see what he thinks. Make sure it is not a problem your farrier                   

        can fix before you call the vet.


    3) If a problem does arise it is sometimes beneficial to have your farrier and vet work together to           

   diagnose the problem.
